Fitting
Clean, flat, dry, stable — get the base right first, since any unevenness underneath still shows through over time. Use an adhesive suited to the substrate, work out the layout before you start fixing tiles down, keep spacing even with spacers or a levelling system, cut with proper equipment, and give the adhesive its full cure time before grouting.
