Not every flooring edge meets another floor — sometimes it just ends, at a doorway or the top of a step, with nothing on the other side to hold it. Left like that, the edge takes the brunt of foot traffic and tends to fray or lift first. This trim grips that one edge and finishes it off, rather than leaving it exposed.

Where It’s Used
Comes up most at doorways, room entrances, and anywhere a flooring run ends without another floor covering to butt against — offices, retail, schools, and homes all use this the same way.

Fitting
Cuts to length with the same tools you’d use for the flooring itself, fixed once the flooring’s laid up to the edge. Worth checking the flooring’s properly seated before fixing the trim over it, since gripping a loose edge just locks the problem in rather than fixing it.
