Long Description:
A threaded joint left bare will leak eventually, since there’s always a small gap in the thread itself that a fitting alone can’t close. This tape wraps around the thread before assembly and fills that gap, so the joint seals properly under pressure rather than weeping over time.
Features & Benefits
- Fills the gaps in threaded fittings to stop leaks
- Resists chemicals, moisture, and temperature swings
- Wraps on quickly before assembly, no curing time
- Allows fittings to be disassembled and redone if needed
Specifications
This is a PTFE thread seal tape for gas and plumbing pipe connections. It resists chemicals and temperature fluctuations, and suits threaded metal fittings across residential, commercial, and industrial installations.
Where It’s Used
Comes up on gas pipe connections, plumbing fittings, water systems, and compressed air lines — anywhere a threaded joint needs to hold a seal under pressure. Plumbers and gas engineers use it as a matter of course on this kind of work.
Fitting
Wrap it around the thread in the direction the fitting will be screwed in, so it doesn’t unwind as you tighten. A few wraps is usually enough — overdoing it can actually stop the fitting seating properly. Comes through the same suppliers as the rest of our building materials range.
One thing worth being direct about: gas fitting work in the UK legally has to be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer — this tape’s a standard component of that work, but it’s not something to use as a DIY fix on a live gas connection.
